Email: info@betterlifedogrescue.org
Website: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/BC159.html
Breed: Husky Females [Mix]
We're in desperate need to find homes foster or adopted homes for all of these dogs. These dogs have been outside all of their lives and are not house-trained. Also not good -at all-with other-male- dogs Because of our policy, we will only adopt to homes where the dogs will be-inside dogs We're asking people to help us out to find loving homes for these dogs. Their bios were written by someone who knows the dogs and needs our help in placing them. Will update their bios later. They are fine around kids other than the one jumps around lots and might push a child over. They are fine around other dogs as long as a male does not get involved then they might fight. Don't bring them near cats rabbits and other animals of that kind. Trumpet the first one is trumpet she is 7 years old she is very friendly and tame she is the pure husky she has no health problems that I know of. Minie The 2nd, she is 5 years old shy and she is cross breed of husky, she is a very small, very smart dog. Spice the 3rd is very hyper, jumps around alot and loves to play, she is 3 years old and very healthy.

Email: info@betterlifedogrescue.org
Website: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/BC159.html
Breed: Labrador Retriever, Husky [Mix]
Sex: Male
Age: Baby
Size: Large
Bino is a beautiful 10 month old shorthaired lab/husky cross who is calm, very well behaved and sweet natured. Bino is great with other dogs and cats. He has a quirky habit of raising his ears up and straight until they cross over and has one blue eye and one brown eye. Bino is house trained and will go pee on command ( outside) He sits on command ,is learning to stay . He even walks well on a leash - all this at only 10 month old. Bino is not good with young children who he tries to be dominant with so is best suited for a home with older children. He will retrieve balls if there is a treat involved; otherwise he just like to run around with it in his mouth. He likes to be chased and play keep away and loves going for long walks. Bino likes people and he is a wonderful companion who is content just to lie at your feet. Bino would be great in any active home with other pets and older or no children.

Ebony

Website: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/BC159.html
Breed: Husky[Mix]
Sex: Female
Age: Adult
Size: Large
Ebony is a 5 year old black husky mix. She is a very friendly and active dog. She gets along well with other dogs, both large and small. In her first foster home she was with cats and was fearful of them. When they ran away, she ran in the other direction, very funny! This special girl has lots to learn but is extremely smart and quick to catch on. She loves walks and pulls like a true sled dog, a gentle leader is working well at making her manageable on the leash. She is excited about life and eager to explore and make the most of every minute. Her tail is aways wagging and she absolutely adores people. She has never been around children and we would prefer to find her a home without kids as she is not used to them. This lovely girl is eagerly awaiting her forever home where she will be treated as a member of the family for the first time in her life

Baily is very sweet and well behaved. His ideal home would be an active household with plenty of time for walks and playtime. He could become anxious if left alone for long periods,so leaving exercises would need to be introduced, along with a calm and consistent routine. Baily is good with other dogs and would be suitable to go to a household with children. Obedience training would benefit both Baily and new owner. Primary Color: Brown
Secondary Color: Tan

Rebel is a 4 year old male, not yet neutered. He is a friendly boy, gets along well with his kennel mate who is a spayed female. Rebel is being fostered near Princeton, and his foster "Mom" says she will drive a good way's out to deliver him to a great home! He needs a home, as a kennel environment is not the best for him. Please call 250-295-0499 for more info on Rebel, or email the BC Siberian Husky Club!

Oscar

BC Siberian Husky Club
Email: BCSiberianHuskyClub@shaw.ca
Website: http://www.bcsiberianhuskyclub.com/
SouthWest area of BC
His name is Oscar (like in Mayer), he's about three or four years old, neutered and totally charming! Oscar needs a dog-experienced home or foster situation immediately. Being a Husky mix, Oscar's prey drive is very strong, so small companion dogs, rabbits, and cats are out. Oscar needs a large yard to safely spend time outside and it would have to be fenced, as he can be an escape artist at times. He was great with the foster Mum's young daughter and her friends. He loves his people, and absolutely adores a good belly rub. He is just a real ham for attention. Oscar is a very mellow fellow, and enjoys lazing around at your feet." This from the emergency foster Mom who saved him from euthanisia; I have a dominate female Boxer. Oscar submitted (rolled on back) as soon as Dexter (yes a boys name for a girl) tried to dominate. Once that was established the two dogs played together as if they had always been a part of the same house hold. (Note Dexter is 16 months old - "puppy license" would be long gone) Oscar was very trusting of both Jon and I upon first meeting. He also enjoyed visits from my 2 brothers and a teenage niece while he was here. He had no issues with any people. We crated him in the day with some chew toys. Had my nephew check on him through out the day. I think he is a dog that likes the security of a den. He was perfect in his crate - no whining, no barking, no digging. It seemed to me a lot of the issues Oscar had improved, no doubt to the love and care he experienced in his foster home. Of course,we only had him for 3 days as an emergency spot to stay. If Oscar was able to live with a cat, he would have found a home here. He is very loving and affectionate I wish him all the best and hope he finds a good home soon. Oscar comes across as huge in size on our site---that's just the pictures. In reality, he's not much bigger than a small Siberian. He ordinarily has a long, thick coat; he was shaved recently because of matting. If you have the right environment and think Oscar is "YOUR" dog, contact us!

Rikki

Email: BCSiberianHuskyClub@shaw.ca
Website: http://www.bcsiberianhuskyclub.com/
SouthWest area of BC
This dog's name is Rikki. He is about 2 years old, and neutered. Rikki is excellent with humans, cuddly and loving! He needs an owner who is experienced with this type of breed, who will commit to him and make him a part of the family. He is well trained in the presence of his owner, his recall is good, but he should never be off leash. Rikki is house trained, can walk on a gentle leader and knows stay, come, down and sit. He loves adults but will not be good with small children or small animals. He needs to have a fenced yard and should always be kept on a leash when in public. He likes the outdoors, enjoys being in a yard and is excellent with other large dogs. Can you help us find Rikki his forever dream home?

Chance's guardian is moving and needs to rehome her 3 dogs. She says "We are 3 VERY CHARMING 6-to-7-year-olds and we're sure you’ll fall in love with us the minute you see us! Although we can get carried away a bit in the presence of chickens, cats, cars, or deer, we’re EXCELLENT COMPANIONS, extremely CUDDLY and perfect in the house (we never even chew on anything)! We are also quite GOOD WITH KIDS and enjoy playing with them. We have been siblings now for 5 years and would love to stay together if possible. Chance is a spayed female Husky-Wolf cross, and her guardians says she is "in charge of the two boys. She is extremely smart and she likes her freedom (this is the inheritance of her wild ancestors) she is also very gentle, graceful and she simply loves to be petted (this is her tame side). She also loves getting lots of exercise and being treated like a princess. Her guardian calls her Qquljaat, which means “Lady of High Esteem”!

She has a very submissive personality, but because of this, has a tendency to urinate frequently. She shows high excitability and anxiety, and would need consistent praise for calm, happy behaviour. She is mildly fearful, and would prefer slower introductions to new situations or people. She has a lovely temperament, but would be better suited to a non-farm environment, where she can receive lots of exercise and outings with her owner. Some of the pets listed on this site may not be available for adoption just yet, because we need to allow owners a chance to find their pets. Even if an animal is listed as adoptable, spayed, or neutered, or a certain gender, please ask for info at the shelter. We do not always know the exact breed of the animal, or its history. It is best to come to the shelter to view animals for yourself. We are pretty busy at the North Peace SPCA, so our details on this site might not be right up to date or completely accurate all the time... but we do our best! :-) Hope you enjoy looking.

Breed: German Shepherd Dog, Husky[Mix]
Sex: Female
Age: Adult
Size: Medium
ID: 2008-4
Poco came into the care of Big Heart Rescue after being hit by a car in a remote community. Thankfully when she arrived into our arms and was taken to the vets there was no major damage and no bones were broken. She is now on antibiotics for "road rash", has been de-wormed and de-fleaed. At her next vet visit she will have her vaccinations and microchip inserted. We estimate that Poco is between 2 and 3 years of age, is spayed and simply a delightful girl. She is thought to be a mixture of German Shepherd and Husky who is slightly smaller than an average Shepherd. This is what Poco's foster Mom has to say about her: At home here she is great, today she wanted to play with the other dogs, we all went on a walk together, she's wonderful on leash, and knows her name, will come when called sometimes. She will sit and wait to have her leash put on and taken off, hasn't had any accidents in the house. She loves to be brushed and is very talkative, and grumbles in her sleep quite a bit. She is learning "leave it" but that's a tough one when there's something to roll in! I think the ideal home for her would have some kids, she loves them, and another dog to play with and help boost her confidence in new situations. She'll be fine with cats as long as they don't run! She is a super sweet and gentle and affectionate dog, and we're starting to see some goofiness. Someone is going to be very lucky to add her to their family. If you are interested in having Poco become a member of your family please send an e-mail to Gail at spiritsmission@shaw.ca and request an adoption application. Please note: Big Heart Rescue adopts within a two hour drive of the lower mainland and to Vancouver/Gulf islands only This pet is already house trained. This pet has been altered.

Freya is a young female soft-coated husky X. She's just arrived at our shelter, so we're in the process of getting to know here. She's going in for spay surgery on June 12, so will be officially ready for adoption sometime after that. From what we can tell so far, she's a lamb in wolf clothing, so-to-speak. She's a gentle spirit and good with other dogs, cats were guessing not, but we'll hopefully test that soon. Freya needs some confidence building, so even if you've got some dog handling experience and time to help us with her, but aren't quite ready to commit to adopting a dog, we'd be happy to meet with you to discuss working with her as a volunteer dog walker.

Burton is a BEAUTIFUL young dog who is looking for his FOREVER FAMILY! He came to the Williams Lake shelter as a stray and now, happily for us, has made his way to Burnaby so we can help him find a new home! Burton's new guardians must be confident, active and have some dog experience. He should attend obedience classes to brush up on his "doggy manners". This is a GREAT way to socialize with other dogs and new people as well as a FANTASTIC way to get to know each other! Burton should practice being left on his own for short periods of time at first until he is comfortable that his new family will be coming back for him. His new family must be prepared to spend lots of time playing and exercising with Burton as well as providing tons of mental stimulation for him. It is a good idea to practice "Nothing For Free" with Burton. This means he must do something (IE: sit, down, stay) before receiving treats, toys or attention. Burton seems to enjoy the company of other dogs and would probably do well in a home with a respectful dog buddy! If you are looking for a new furry four legged member of your family, come and visit Burton. He may just be your new BEST FRIEND! Primary Color: Blonde

Max
Sunshine Coast Branch SPCA
Sechelt, BC

Email sunshinecoast@spca.bc.ca
Website: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/BC26.html
Max is a playful and energetic young dog who can be a little shy in new situations. He is still pretty much a pup and will require further obedience training and a firm but kind leader; Max stills likes to jump up and snatch treats but he's a smart boy and is learning fast. His leash manners also need a little refining . . . he's a typical Northern boy and feels he has to haul you down the road when you first set off, and though slightly built is quite strong. A happy boy, Max is very friendly and affectionate and has an abundance of energy and is very fast . . . he can definitely run. An active home where he will sufficient exercise is a must along with a fenced yard to keep him safe. Max was recently adopted and though his new family loved him and worked hard to keep the peace between Max and the resident cats, sadly it was not meant to be, and it was decided that Max needed a cat free home (along with no other small critters). He can also be a bit of a bossy boy when on leash with other dogs but appears to be okay when in a fenced area with other dogs. Off-leash runs are not a good idea for Max as he will run! Max is a young dog and will require someone who can commit to spending the time with him that he needs; he displays typical Northern breed traits and Northern breed experience would be beneficial. If you are looking for a companion that is always ready for an adventure, hikes, Mountain biking, jogging or exploring Max may be the perfect companion, just don't expect him to lay on the porch watching the world go by.

Bandit
Kamloops SPCA
Phone: 250-376-7722
Email: office.spca@shawcable.com
Website: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/BC87.html
Bandit came to the SPCA after his guardians decided they didn't have the time to property train him. They describe him as friendly, playful, active, and affectionate. He was previously an outside only dog. He is good with other dogs. He enjoys riding in the car. Bandit gets easily over excited. He needs lots of exercise and outings with guardian. He may want to chase moving things like bikes, animals or children. Good obedience and a confident guardian is important. He knows how to "sit" and "shake a paw". He walks nicely on leash. He would benefit from further obedience training as he jumps up on people. Because of this, he would be best suited in a home with older children as he may accidentally knock a young child off his/her feet if he gets excited. His new family could include younger children if they were prepared for his exuberance. Bandit can be initially timid in new situations and of new things. He needs to be introduced to people and new situations slowly. He needs a more quiet environment and gentle handling. Once he gets past his initial timidness, he quickly becomes very friendly and excited to see people. Bandit gets anxious when left alone. He may whine and chew things if left alone. He will need to get used to spending time alone slowly a few minutes at a time. Bandit is a friendly, fun, dog who has tons of love (and energy) to give. A behaviour counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal to ensure success. Age: 1yrs 6mths 0wks
