Both of these dogs were raised together and due to Allister's timid nature, one home is to be found for both Minnie and Allister. A prospective owner must be experienced and very patient. The rewards are two wonderful and lovable companions.
MINNIE (Rosengarten's Minnie the Moocher), Gray and White Spayed Female, July 18, 1995, 60 lbs. Minnie is a kisser, very forward with strangers and loves to be the centre of attention. Has been both a house and kennel dog (Canadian Champion); crate, leash and enclosure trained. Travelled loose and in a crate in the car and some air travel. Has been known to be the instigator of Siberian group howls and "doggy play-time"! Socialble with male dogs, other than her brother, and "iffy" with female dogs. She does not like cats. Likes being vacuumed and wading in water at the beach. No known health problems. Has all current vaccinations.
ALLISTER (Rosengarten's That's Amore), Red & White Neutered Male, Septemer 06, 1996, 75 lbs. Allister has always been an owner favourite, an easy'going and generally laid-back Siberian. A house dog, fenced exercise area or on a leash. Travelled loose and in a crate in the car and international air travel. Socialbility with other dogs is good --- compatible and played with Minnie's brother in the house and outside. Likes to wade in water at the beach. Permanently on thyroid medication twice a day and occasional regimen of antibiotics for dental health (he had several teeth removed last year). Has all current vaccinations.
Allister was shown as a puppy, but as an adult, he became shy towards strangers, especially show judges. Much time and effort was spent trying to correct this problem including professional trainers. He improved somewhat, was never shown again, never bred and was neutered. Allister, with encouragement and praise, will approach strangers according to his comfort zone ---- if unsure, he will retreat and is not aggressive. He would be stressed by children and has lived with Minnie, Minnie's brother and a single adult woman for the last two years. Allister has been quite happy when taken to public events with controlled access to petting from strangers (Winterlude).

PHOTO TO FOLLOW Meet our newest angel Duchess! Duchess is a lovely girl of 8 years old who recently had to have one of her front legs amputated. You see, Duchess lived with an owner that neglected her and when she got hurt last September, he didn't seek help. Cruelty officers siezed Duchess in December and workers desperately tried to save her leg. Even skin grafts didn't work! Finally, on April 23rd, Duchess had to have her leg removed. Duchess is of mixed heritage but I would hesitate a guess that there is a bit of shepherd and a touch of husky in there but goodness knows what else. What I can tell you with absolute certainty is she is precious. She gets along with cats and dogs, is an excellent listener (don't take her off leash tho because she can still run like the wind!) and a soft and sweet companion. If you feel you can provide this very special soul a loving home, please contact us. I can assure you that Duchess will enrich your life. This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet is already house trained. This pet has been altered.

Lilo is a very well behaved "best-friend" type of Husky.
She will be 4 yrs old on July 30th 2008.
She is black and white, with one blue-eye and one brown-eye.
She is a female, approx 48 lbs.
She is fixed.
She is up to date on all her shots.
She has a tracking chip in her shoulder so if ever lost she can be located.
She has been in a home where there is almost always someone home, and would be best suited to a similar situation.
She has been raised with children, however has recently nipped a child that scared her (the child is fine..)
Due to the young ages of my kids and the constant running around of children in my house, I feel she would be better suited in a home without young children.
Lilo has never been able to be "crated". (This is common in the husky breed).
Lilo has used a cloth muzzle at some times.
She is great with small dogs, but not as good with large breed dogs.
She prefers to be around her 'family'. When left alone for long periods, she has been known to urinate in the house, although if a doggy-pad is down, she will use that.
Last thing: My kids are hoping they can email (or visit) to find out how Lilo is doing at her new home :)

Toby-fostered in Sault Ste. Marie

Toby is not from Sandy Lake; he was rescued from another reserve called Aroland, near Nakina. He is about 3-4 years old and is probably a Husky/Shepherd mix. Toby has been neutered, de-wormed and is up-to-date with all his shots. His foster mom reports that he walks well on a leash, gets along well with other dogs and is housetrained. He currently shares the house with a female Doberman and gets along great with her. He is friendly with people and doesn’t seem to dig or howl. He may be a counter surfer is food is left within reach. Toby has not been exposed to cats. He is learning basic commands like sit and wait. This lovely boy is currently in foster care in Sault Ste. Marie.

James was at a kill shelter in Ohio - they euthanize every Thursday. We had him pulled and vetted March 20th - and got him on March 23rd . We have had him heartworm tested, vaccinated and dewormed. James is very sweet, gentle and quiet - he was excellent in the van on the way home from Ohio. He is laid back, and very friendly. Swizzles is a neutered 2 1/2 year old boy. He is great with our two year old son, and all kids. He howls when there is a fire engine and will speak to you when you talk to him! He is a very good dog when he gets lots of attention. When he is bored he will climb fences, dig and chew. Exercise will prevent boredom! I am physically unable to walk him due to a medical condition, and will be for some time to come. He is a loving dog with a great personality and it breaks my heart to let him go. But I think it is best for him. He is all white in colour. Being a true Husky, he will take off if given the chance. He can climb chainlink. He needs his rabies and heartworm for this year. He loves to run and would probably make a good sled dog. He is very unhappy when chained up. I am looking for a good home who understands how to care for my animal. Snowy is a spayed female Husky, about 3 yrs old. She's a playful and extremely affectionate dog. She gets along with other dogs but would want to be the top dog if her new home had a dog already. Snowy is a special needs dog because she was bitten by a certain sandfly and contracted an illness called kala-azar (Leishmanias). She responded well to the treatment so can live a normal life with a daily medication called Allupurinol (Zylapour) which is, thankfully, an inexpensive medication. She just needs to be blood tested every 6 months to check that her titer count is remaining at an acceptable level. If the count is low, she could go off the medication until the next checkup. Snowy can live a normal life just like any other dog, with the medication as and when required, so we would like for her to get this opportunity. Meet Sukee 4 years old originally from the Yukon where she was rescued as a puppy, and now she needs rescuing again from the same owners who now have no time for her because they now have a baby. I know its pretty sad because she is a good girl and she is now staying with me because she had no place to go. Because of family changes Sukee got the boot. Anyways about Sukee she is great with other dogs, loves to run and will come when called. She is great in the backyard and loves to play in the snow. She is very gentle when receiving treats. Sukee had to learn my routine quickly which she did with other dogs being in my home and she is doing very well She is good in the house, pretty laid back and loves attention . Not sure about cats, but I would say no. She is protective of her food probably from being starved up north when she was a puppy in the wilderness she became like this which is accepting. If you just leave her alone when she is eating she is fine. She is great with my group and shows no agression towards them. She just needs time to adjust like she did in my home when she was literally brought to my door step by the owner. She has been with me since Feb 5 and is getting better everday. She barks when she has to go the bathroom also. She is great in the house left alone. Like all our dogs for adoption we do not adopt to families with small children or are excepting to have children in the future. We have found from previous that these dogs do not last in a forever home so please don't reply.
A home visit is a prerequisite for adoption. We will also be asking for a reference from your vet. An adoption fee will be charged.
We are always in need of people who are willing to foster our dogs until we can find permanent homes.

Skppy is an owner surrender and here is a bio from his owner. My dog is part husky/part shephard. We got him from the humane society when he was 2 and he is 8. When we got him it seemed like he was abused from the previous owner. He is a good dog. If it were just my husband and I, we would keep him. He is very good for my husband and I. Because we have an autistic child, we can know longer keep him for our son does not always listen to our commands when it comes to the dog to not touch him. When we come around, he goes on his back because he knows who the leaders of the pack are. He can do tricks. He plays the piano with his mouth, gives paws one after another, high 5, turns around for treats, rolls over. When you talk to him, he understands a lot of things. He is a very good dog, you just have to know how to handle dogs. He has so much energy and it's almost like your getting a puppy. He does not act his age. He's in very good shape and likes to run. Whinisk is three years old and he is in Moose Factory. He was kept on a rope under trees so that as much as he was in the shade for three years he also didn't experience the sun or freedom for the same amount of time. A neighbour could not endure seeing Whinisk outside and alone every day so he asked if he could have him. He was told yes and after freeing this gentle boy he placed him into rescue care. Whinisk is still on a line in the backyard but he can move about and feel the sun on his face. He gets runs and walks every day and has become a very different dog from the one who was denied most of what life has to offer. He is good with other dogs and loves the toddler where he lives very much. Whinisk will be leaving Moose Factory June 30th and is hoping for a home where he will be with people that appreciate his patience and greatness.

Remington is an 18 mth neutered male Husky/Labrador mix - with perhaps a couple of other breeds in the mix - weighing 50 lbs. To say his appearance is interesting is quite an understatement for although his short wavy coat is jet black his eyes are a vivid blue, no doubt a gift from a Husky ancestor. With such a great combo of varied traits and abilities Remington has all the bases covered in terms of adaptability and versatility. He is a friendly boy who seems able to get along well with other dogs, both male and female. Since he is a young dog he would do well in a home where structure and additional training would be provided. He has the desire to please, coupled with a lively interest in new situations and a healthy dose of smarts. Remmy will also need a home where his new family are willing to be accosted by his admirers when they take him for walks in the park as he does tend to stand out in a crowd. Just a darling little girl, is our 10 week old Sachet. Sachet came into ARF's care after spending her first two months totally outdoors. Now she enjoys living the good life inside, and is partial to air conditioning. Sachet loves the company of the multiple dogs and cats in her foster home. She can't resist chasing a kitty that runs by her but loves to give them little nose nudges. At bedtime, Sachet sleeps beside her foster mom's bed on a comforter. She plays quietly with the others and enjoys balls and nylabones. Her coat is soft and short and she appears to get taller each day. Her recall is excellent as she comes when called inside and out.
